Healthcare excellence in leadership program
The Montana Medical Association Healthcare Excellence in Leadership Program is designed to enhance the leadership skills of healthcare providers, to help them play a bigger role in their practices and hospitals and to attain the knowledge and opportunities needed to influence Montana healthcare policy. Providers who attend this top-shelf program walk away with practical and action-oriented skills to effectively lead in their practice or healthcare organization.
Further setting this program apart is the introduction of Montana-specific healthcare policy topics and challenges that are financially and politically driven to prepare participants to be engaged in the policy-setting arena. Graduates of the program participate in sessions to share their insights on issues and how they have become more engaged.
Over 165 physicians and other healthcare providers have participated in the leadership program's first eight years. Past participants have accepted top leadership roles in Montana healthcare institutions and received multiple industry awards, including the MMA's Legacy of Leadership Award.
The program was developed through the support of the MMA Foundation and grants provided by The Physicians Foundation, a national non-profit organization that seeks to advance the work of practicing physicians and helps facilitate the delivery of health care to patients. The MMA Foundation supports physician education in Montana.
