Montana Healthcare Excellence in Leadership Program

Honoring Our Legacy. Reimagining What Comes Next.

For nearly 150 years, the Montana Medical Association has represented physicians, advanced the medical profession and served as a trusted voice for healthcare in Montana.

Today, MMA is entering an exciting new era. We are embarking on Legacy initiatives, creating new opportunities to engage and serve people throughout healthcare and strengthening the ways we support Montana’s communities while remaining true to our roots.

With this renewed vision, MMA is redesigning and reinvigorating the Healthcare Excellence in Leadership Program, known as HELP. This important initiative will build upon more than a decade of history while creating a more comprehensive and relevant leadership experience for the people serving Montana healthcare.

Invest in Yourself. Strengthen How You Lead.

The skills that help people lead successfully also help them communicate more effectively, manage stress, navigate difficult situations and build stronger relationships personally and professionally.

HELP provides participants with opportunities to strengthen their ability to:

  • Communicate with confidence and purpose
  • Build trust with people at all levels
  • Manage stress and remain effective under pressure
  • Navigate conflict and difficult conversations
  • Work successfully with different personalities and perspectives
  • Strengthen self awareness, adaptability and resilience
  • Collaborate across professions and areas of responsibility
  • Mentor, encourage and prepare others to lead
  • Serve patients, colleagues, organizations and communities more effectively

These abilities are valuable at every career stage, whether someone is new to healthcare, growing into greater responsibility, established in a leadership role or continuing to learn and guide others.

More Than a Decade of Leadership Growth

For more than a decade, HELP has brought together Montana healthcare professionals committed to personal growth, professional excellence and meaningful service.

The reinvigorated program will preserve the value and relationships HELP has created while considering how it can become more engaging, accessible and responsive to people serving healthcare in different professions, settings, communities and stages of their careers.

Creating the Next HELP Experience

MMA will not convene a 2026/2027 HELP class. This intentional pause provides the time required to evaluate the previous program and thoughtfully create its next chapter.

MMA will establish a task force to conduct an environmental scan, review the program’s history, examine successful healthcare leadership programs and consider the personal, professional, organizational and community needs HELP should address.

The task force will consider the program structure, length, learning format, accessibility, faculty, locations, tuition, continuing education and participant eligibility. These elements have not yet been determined.

The next HELP class is anticipated to begin in fall 2027 and continue into 2028. Applications are not being accepted at this time. Additional information will be shared as the program is developed and approved.
